The stroke can be adjusted using microswitches, which allow you to set the maximum cylinder descent and ascent points. When the piston approaches its final position, the microswitches detect the stopping point and send an electrical signal to the press control system. In semi-automatic versions this blocks the movement of the piston, while in automatic models it automatically causes the piston to rise to top dead center.

If the press is equipped with the digital touchscreen panel, the stroke adjustment is done digitally and the microswitches are replaced by an encoder that measures the piston position in real time with an accuracy of 0,1 millimetres.
